**DMARC** (Domain-based Message Authentication, Reporting, and Conformance): An email authentication protocol that builds on SPF and DKIM. It lets domain owners publish a policy specifying what to do with messages that fail authentication, and requests that receiving mail servers send aggregate reports back to the domain owner.

**SPF** (Sender Policy Framework): A DNS record that lists the mail servers authorised to send email for a domain. Receiving servers check the sending IP against this list.

**DKIM** (DomainKeys Identified Mail): A mechanism that adds a cryptographic signature to outgoing email. Receiving servers verify the signature against a public key published in DNS.

**DMARC aggregate report (RUA)**: An XML file sent daily by receiving mail servers to the address in your DMARC DNS record. It summarises authentication results — pass/fail counts, sending IPs, and policy dispositions — for all email claiming to come from your domain.

**Email spoofing**: Sending email with a forged From address to impersonate a trusted sender. SPF, DKIM, and DMARC together provide mechanisms to detect and block spoofed email.

**DMARC enforcement**: Setting the DMARC policy to `quarantine` or `reject`, which instructs receiving servers to filter or block messages that fail authentication. Organisations should monitor DMARC reports before moving to enforcement to avoid blocking legitimate email.
